Hello

My name is Sarah and I am the face behind Sarah McAlpine Art.  My intention was to never start a small business, but I was encouraged by a friend to start a Facebook page featuring some of my art, 4 years and two business courses later, here I am.

I started by creating acrylic art work and scrapbook name signs, and then I moved on to peg dolls and turning my work into prints.  Another friend asked if I could decorate two espresso cups for her sons,  after seeing me decorate plates, I obliged and was overwhelmed by the response I got to create more.  From painting the fluffy cups, I was able to come up with more designs, which I then began to print on cups and transfer to fabric design.  Here I am now sharing my designs on apparel and homewares.

I live in Rotorua with my husband and our three children.  I have worked in childcare for 20 years and still hold two part time positons at a childcare centre and with SPACE NZ, which are also a joy to do.  The child care aspect is why I love to create my peg dolls, fluffy cups and apparel for children.  My business and home life keep me busy!
